At the age of 22, Amanda decided she wanted more from her career. With a degree in psychology and a wealth of experience in social care, Amanda set out to explore the world. Formative years spent abroad in places such as Korea led Amanda to the discovery of the powers of eastern medicine. Upon her return to Canada, Amanda spent several years at the International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Vancouver.
While completing her Acupuncturist studies, Amanda traveled to California to learn Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture under the guidance of Martha Lucas. After seeing firsthand how effective Cosmetic Acupuncture was in decreasing and preventing aging of the skin, Amanda was inspired. She is currently the only Acupuncturist specializing solely in Cosmetic Acupuncture in Vancouver. Now a licensed Acupuncturist, and with a genuine interest in skin health and working with people, Amanda began her journey.
Amanda is certified in biopuncture and acupoint injection therapy. This allows her to perform customized nutritional, vitamin, and weight loss injections as well as natural skin rejuvenation therapies based on her clients needs.
Amanda's passion and knowledge led her to create SKN Holistic Rejuvenation Clinic. SKN is the only clinic that combines the powers of Eastern medicine, medical esthetics and skin nutrition. This unique concept allows the SKN team to improve the look and health of both the skin and the internal health of each client, so results are holistic and long term. Amanda and her team continuously research and study skin health and skin nutrition - allowing them to offer the latest, most innovative treatments to clients.
Over the past few years Amanda further advanced her studies to become a certified laser technician, specializing in Photo-Facials and Skin Tightening, and later went on to become trained in Medical Skin Needling. In 2011 Amanda launched her first products, The SKN Spin Roller System and AfterGlow Replenishing Oil. The SKN Spin Roller System was included in the Emmy Gift Bags in 2012. Amanda is currently working on formulating her new line of skincare products.
In 2010 SKN Clinic was featured in Best Health magazine and Nuvo Magazine. SKN Clinic was awarded Gold for Best Skin Care facility in the West Ender, and Bronze for best Laser Hair Removal Clinic in the Georgia Straight Best of Vancouver Awards. In 2011 Amanda appeared on Urban Rush speaking about the benefits of Cosmetic Acupuncture and homecare dermal rollers like the SKN Spin. Amanda and her team are regular contributors to Fresh Vancouver Magazine and Vista Health Magazine.

"I had a vision to create a place that was different from all the other spas and clinics. My goal was to build a peaceful, calm oasis filled with heart - where each and every client felt valued and taken care of. SKN would be a place where clients came to relax, laugh, cry and have fun; all while achieving healthy, vibrant skin and a balanced state of being. I could not achieve this goal without a wonderful team that is not only extremely knowledgeable but truly passionate about helping people achieve healthy, beautiful skin."
Summer is a highly committed professional with more than a decade of experience in skin health. She began her career in aesthetics in 2001, graduating with exemplary achievement from The Aveda Institute in Minneapolis, MN. Since then, she has dedicated herself to becoming an expert in clinical skin care, with a strong focus on achieving skin and health-related goals with her clients.
Summer excels in creating effective, tailored and attentive treatment plans for people wanting to improve not only the appearance of their skin, but how their skin functions at the cellular level, providing life-long results.
Summer is also a meticulous laser specialist, offering treatments for anything from hair removal, to photo-rejuvenation to effective skin tightening. Safety, precision and a close eye to detail result in a successful treatment plan.
Summer's Philosophy: “There is no such thing as bad skin: there is only unbalanced skin which can be a result of various factors including improper skin care, certain nutritional deficiencies both topically and internally. My strategy when working with my clients is to determine the source of the problem, whether it may be systemic, or just counter-productive skin care habits at home. Ultimately, what’s inside shows outside—I focus on both.”
Melissa graduated from Pebec School of Esthetics in London Ontario in 2001 and relocated to beautiful Whistler, BC to begin her journey in the skincare industry. Immersing herself in an Ayurvedic wellness spa as well as a Medical Esthetics spa, she learned the best of both worlds; Eastern and Western practices. Her time and experience in Whistler led her to become a skilled laser technician and advanced skin practitioner - performing Laser Hair Removal, Photo Rejuvenation, Skin Tightening, Peels, Medi-Facials and other advanced skin treatments.
After 10 fabulous years in the mountains, the ocean was calling her name. She found herself in Vancouver where she worked alongside two of the cities finest doctors in the medical cosmetic industry. This is where her love for cosmeceutical products grew exponentially. Working with innovative products that contain cutting edge ingredients, she guided patients through their treatment plans which followed homecare protocols for their procedures.
Staying true to her own journey, Melissa realized her passion lies between medical and holistic treatments - the therapeutic hands on approach of holistic Medi-Spas. She is ecstatic to find her new home as a part of the SKN team. Her focus has not only been administering effective treatments, but also protecting the clients' investment by customizing routines specifically tailored to their needs, lifestyle and budget. By educating her clients about combination therapy of nutrition health and appropriate skincare, she gives expert guidance for achieving healthy and glowing skin her clients can be proud of.
